Outback Teriyaki Filet Medallions

Outback Teriyaki Filet Medallions

At the Outback Steakhouse tonight, I got the Teriyaki Filet Medallions and thought they were great. They are wood-fire grilled strips of teriyaki marinated filet along with onions, red peppers, and green peppers. I got a Wedge salad and a potato too.

The wife got a 9″ Siirloin. The menu describes the Outback Signature Sirloin as the leanest cut, hearty and full of flavor, served with two sides. she also got a wedge salad and a potato.

Dinner tonight was $38.13.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Outback rarely have I ever had a bad meal there. Except the time I ordered the Teryaki Filet Medallions (I really like their Teryaki marinade). Half of the 6 pieces of meat were full of gristle and inedible. They replaced them and 2 of the 6 in the replacement were gristley. I asked the manager how there could be gristle in a tenderloin and she replied that they don’t cut the teryaki filets themselves- they come pre-packaged — so they cannot control the quality of the meat. I had had them a previous time and that time only one piece was ‘chewy’ so I thought it was an anomoly. Save yourself the trouble and order something different or at least be aware that you may run into this issue. Caveat emptor. BTW the manager comp-ed my steak (which I thought was generous of her).
